Autism: AMC Sensory Friendly Films

  • Sumo

I think it is wonderful that AMC has partnered with the Autism Society to bring sensory friendly films to families that have been affected by Autism.

The films are shown once a month at selected AMC theaters.

This is great because families that have loved ones with Autism or other specials needs might not be able to take them to the movies otherwise.

Sensory friendly movies at AMC “provide a more accepting and comfortable setting for this unique audience, the movie auditoriums will have their lights brought up and the sound turned down, families will be able to bring in their own gluten-free, casein-free snacks, and no previews or advertisements will be shown before the movie. Additionally, audience members are welcome to get up and dance, walk, shout or sing – in other words, AMC’s “Silence is Golden®” policy will not be enforced unless the safety of the audience is questioned.”

On November 20 the movie of the month will be “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1” and on December 11 the movie of the month will be “The Chronicles of Narnia: The voyage of the Dawn Treader.”
