The Field House is located 1150 Filbert St, Philadelphia, PA 19107. Which is right across the street (which was reminiscent of a tunnel with a light at both ends of it) from the Reading Terminal Market. The Field House looked like a typical sports bar / pub upon entry. Dark wood tables and chairs every where. They had a small stage in the window. No band that day. Just an empty stage. The bar area was also dark wood (counter top and stools). There were plenty of booths in the bar Continue reading →

OMG!!! Tommie the server at Copper Canyon Grill made my pre-birthday (day before my birthday) dinner experience a very pleasant and memorable experience. I called the manager over to compliment Tommie to find out he had only been there for a few months. WAYYYYYYY to go Tommie. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger (and added avocado). The burger was grilled to perfection. It went from a huge burger quickly to a burger I had to enjoy with a knife and fork. The bread was so tender. Continue reading →

Congressional Deli located in Rockville, Maryland makes the most delicious chicken cheesesteak and french fries. Succulent every time The Deli’s chicken is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The chicken is placed on a toasted sub roll with your choice of toppings. I love lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, grilled onions and grilled green peppers on my hoagie. I have had the pleasure to devour several chicken cheesesteaks in Philly, and must admit Congressional Deli gives them all a run for their money. This works out for me because Continue reading →

I recently made a trip to Philly to take pictures for Spotlight on Jazz and Poetry. I could not leave the city of brotherly love without stopping pass The Hoagie Factory (located at 2121 72nd Avenue) on my way home to get a chicken cheesesteak. My friend Darryl Williams of WDKK Radio introduced me to The Hoagie Factory when we covered the 2010 West Oak Lane Jazz Festival in Philly. The above image was taken with my camera phone (HTC Evo Shift). The hoagie was Continue reading →

Today was a GREAT day. I started my day off by taking my granddaughter to day care, then took my daughter to work. For brunch I had the Avocado, Bacon and Tomato Skillet from First Watch. I added diced turkey and First Watch seasoning. My entree also came with a side of fruit as well as an english muffin. As always my skillet was delish. It was a perfect combinations of flavors on my palate. After brunch I had a call from my significant other Continue reading →

I think tortillas are so versatile and I always keep at least one pack in my refrigerator. I use flour tortillas. I’m not a fan of corn tortillas unless they are fried and lightly coated with salt upon exiting the oil. Tortillas can be used for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and desserts. Here are a few examples of how I use them Breakfast: Warm tortillas up and fill with eggs and cheese, then roll up and enjoy. You can also add sausage and veggies to Continue reading →
I was flipping through television channels the other day and noticed a void in ads for stoves, mixers and other appliances to make food from scratch. Has life become so convenient that no one cooks from scratch any more? There seem to be more ads on television today for prepared meals that you throw into the microwave and fast food restaurants than traditional restaurants and foods prepared from scratch. Or am I just tripping? During my travels through the television oops I meant to say Continue reading →

This year Thanksgiving dinner was at my mom’s house. I arrived hungry. Look at my plate below. My mom made some of her favorite dishes. On my plate is chicken tetrazzini, meatloaf, party rice & noodles, sweet potatoes, mac & cheese, greens (kale and mustard mix) and cabbage. Needless to say after I finally finished Continue reading →
