Children need our PRESENCE more than our presents

So many times I will see children that are dressed to impress from head to toe on a daily basis, sporting all the latest and greatest in technology, however many of these same children would exchange their worldly possessions to spend more “Quality Time” with their parents.

What is your take on this?

April, I feel that we don’t as a society reinforce the bonding that children of the “Baby Boomers” afforded their children. For me personally, I couldn’t wait for my parents to come home from work. My mom had my sister and three boys when she was young, so she was right in the middle of the floor dancing, singing and keeping us company. My dad was a Fireman, he worked 24 hours on and 2 days off. He couldn’t break wind without me smelling it when he came home. I do see more young men who didn’t have their fathers around with their sons and daughters. Only if they took time to read to them.

Your comment brought back very fond memories of my childhood. Thank you.

When I was young my family laughed, joked and engaged more as a collective, than families do today. I’ve kept up the same tradition with my children and I hope they do the same with theirs.
