Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
Like many of the memorials in D.C. if you do not know where to look they are over looked. The memorial is located between the Jefferson and Martin Luther King, Jr. memorials along the waterfront (Tidal Basin).
For the DMV Staycationers (and history buffs) – – The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is an 800-acre memorial in honor of the 32nd president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The memorial contains four rooms, which represent the four times Franklin Delano Roosevelt was elected president. Roosevelt was elected President in November 1932, to the first of four terms, which spanned twelve years from March 4, 1933 to April 12, 1945. He was the only president to be elected four times.
The walls adorn FDR quotes. There are several statues, including a statue of FDR’s wife (Eleanor Roosevelt) and his Scottish Terrier named Murray.
