Chuck Brown public viewing at The Howard Theater 11AM – 10PM

The Howard Theater will graciously open its doors today (May 29, 2012) so thousands of family, friends and loved ones will be able to pay their last respects to the Godfather of GoGo Chuck Brown. Excerpt from TMZ: Our sources tell us a member of Whitney’s entourage found her in her oom at the Beverly Hilton hotel … and called hotel security — who then dialed 911. When paramedics arrived Houston was found unresponsive. We’re told police arrived to the scene within minutes and fire was already there on an unrelated call. Micron CEO Steve Appleton Dead at Age 51

Steve Appleton, chairman and CEO of  Micron, died in a small plane accident in Boise, Idaho, on Friday at 9:00 a.m. local time. He was 51. Appleton was the only person on the single-engine prop Lancair experimental aircraft, which crashed between two runways, the Idaho Statesman newspaper reported on its website. Source: PC World

‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ and ‘The Big Lebowski’ actor, Ben Gazzara dead at Age 81. Longtime family friend Suzanne Mados said Gazzara died Friday in Manhattan. Mados, who owned the Wyndham Hotel, where celebrities such as Peter Falk and Martin Sheen stayed, said he died after being placed in hospice care for cancer. She and her husband helped marry Gazzara and his wife, German-born Elke Krivat, at their hotel. (AP)

“Welcome Back Kotter” start Robert Hegyes died on Thursday in New Jersey. He was 60. Hegyes was rushed to a New Jersey hospital in cardiac arrest. Hegyes played Jewish Puerto Rican Sweathog Juan Epstein on the popular television series “Welcome Back Kotter” as well as had a role on “Cagney & Lacey”. Legendary singer Etta James dies, she was 73

I reported on Friday, December 16, 2011 that Etta James was terminally ill and her family was making her comfortable. Rest in peace Etta James According to People Magazine, Etta James (born Jamesetta Hawkins) has succumbed to her long battle with leukemia. She also suffered from dementia and kidney problems. Her husband, Artis Mills, and her sons by her side, De Leon said. M-A-S-H and Dragnet star, Harry Morgan dies at age 96

Harry Morgan, most famous for his role as Colonel Sherman Potter in the long running television show M-A-S-H, died Wednesday in his Brentwood home, due to a bout with pneumonia. Morgan was 96. Morgan, also starred in Dragnet; The Richard Boone Show; Kentucky Jones; December Bridge and a host of other shows and movies. No service information is available at this time. Morgan is survived by his wife Barbara, three sons (Charles, Paul and Christopher), eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

The State of Georgia now has the blood of Troy Davis on its hands. Despite the overwhelming doubt surrounding his guilt, Troy Davis was put to death onWednesday for the1989 murder of police officer Mark MacPhail in Savannah, Georgia. Davis provided affidavits from seven of the nine witnesses at his trial that recanted their original testimony. Judge Mathis gives his opinion on the execution of Davis (see video below).

Legendary Motown singer (Nickolas) Nick Ashford dies at age 70 at a New York City hospital, according to his publicist Liz Rosenberg. He suffered from throat cancer. Ashford was one-half of the legendary duo Ashford and Simpson, which consisted of Nick Ashford and his wife Valerie Simpson. 50-year old grandmother charged in the murder of her 2 1/2-year old granddaughter

As I reported this morning Carmela Dela Rosa, a 50 -year old grandmother was suspected of allegedly throwing her 2 1/2-year old granddaughter Angelyn Ogdoc several stories to her death at a shopping mall in Virginia. The 50-year old Fairfax woman has been now been arrested and charged with murder, according to Ian Rodway, the chief deputy Commonwealth’s attorney. R.I.P. 'Airplane' and 'Naked Gun' actor Leslie Nielsen [videos]
