Trigeminal Neuralgia: Cards everyone with TN should have handy

  • Sumo

I stumbled upon these wonderful cards on Facebook on the End Trigeminal Neuralgia.

It sums up everything that victims of Trigeminal Neuralgia go through all in one handy place.

TN Card 2

One side reads:

What is Trigeminal Neuralgia (TN)?

TN is pain in 1 or both of our two main nerves, coming from above the ears and then split into 3 branches;

  1. The ophthalmic nerve (the eye area and forehead)
  2. The maxillary nerve (cheekbone, nose and top teeth)
  3. The mandibular nerve (bottom teeth, chin and jaw)

The pain can affect 1 or both sides and be in 1, 2 or all 3 branches of the nerve.

The classic TN pan (Type 1/TN); Electric shock or bolt of lighting.  The Atypical TN pain (type 2/ATN); constant burning, aching and crushing.

Triggers can be:

Touch, talking, eating, drinking, brushing hair, shaving, cleaning teeth, breeze/air-condition, etc.

The pain is one of the worst known to mankind.  There is no real cure for Trigeminal Neuralgia.

The other side says:

I’m having a PAIN ATTACK in my face and CAN’T TALK NOW

  1. Do NOT touch me
  2. Do NOT move me
  3. Don’t ask questions
  4. Just let me be

I know what to do.  The attack will pass.  It is NOT dangerous or contagious

Here is the link to the cards on FB:

I have Trigeminal Neuralgia.  The pain is higher than worst migraine and toothache combined.

I hope this blog was helpful to you as well as someone that you may know.

I love the idea of this card and will definitely be creating something (on Vistaprint or Cafepress) similar for myself, because I would like mine personalized for me.

Stay strong.  One day this will be a thing of our past.
