Trigeminal Neuralgia: Invisible disease

I came across the above image on the internet that inspired me to write this blog.

There are some diseases that you can see on the outside, however there are countless others that you cannot see.

Since many cannot see the illness they cannot relate to the pain the person is experiencing inside.

Some empathize, however others are in disbelief.

Before you condemn someone make sure you do your due diligence.

Unfortunately, I suffer from Trigeminal Neuralgia, however I am a warrior and will not let this dis-ease get the best of me.

The worst thing about TN is one moment you are feeling okay and then out of no where a thunder and lighting storm goes off in your face reminding you why it is nicknamed “suicide disease”.

Sometimes my pain can last for several reps in minute (or two) intervals, however there are times the pain can last up to 20 – 30 minutes.  This is very painful for me and even more painful for my loved ones to watch me go through this.  They feel just as helpless as I do.

I must admit the pain has been so extreme sometimes that I wish I could take a sleeping pill that was strong enough to let me sleep through the pain.  At these times I tell myself that this too shall pass and life is worth living.

I created a line of novelty items for Trigeminal Neuralgia to help bring awareness to this chronic pain illness.  Click here to see the designs that I’ve come up with so far.

The following video is a great example of what victims of Trigeminal Neuralgia go through.

God bless all that are affected by this dis-ease.
